Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter saga, knows what it means to be allergic to Nickel… Indeed, the eyeglass frames that he wore during the filming of the first episode of the Harry Potter saga contained Nickel, and caused him an allergic reaction!
Nickel allergy is a very common contact dermatitis (10% of the population is affected by it) which sets off allergic reactions: rashes, redness, swelling, itching… Nickel is widespread in everyday items: costume jewelry, Jean buttons, eyeglass frames, coins, watch bracelets…
Daniel Radcliffe learnt this the hard way: during the filming of the first episode of the saga, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, he developed an allergy at the contact of the eyeglasses of his character: a rash shaped in two perfect circles around his eyes. It took almost a week to understand that this was caused by his eyeglasses. They contained Nickel, and it turned out that Daniel Radcliffe is allergic to it… The eyeglasses had to be replaced by frames made out of hypo-allergenic materials.
If the movie had been filmed today, another solution would have been possible: have Daniel Radcliffe, alias Harry Potter, test the Protective Cream HPS. This cream is the first in the world to protect the skin against Nickel, Chromium, or other irritating metals. Based on a new exclusive and patented technology, this cream captures Nickel and other irritating metals at the surface of the skin, thus reducing their penetration in the skin… and therefore the skin irritation. Thanks to the Protective Cream HPS, a protection a insured for a few hours, sometimes throughout the day (for almost everyone: for some persons, even though Nickel is involved, the origin of the allergy is more complex and the cream is less efficient.
