Optimising for safety

Skintifique’s scientists and collaborators systematically optimise products for safety. There are of course many considerations involved, and here are 2 of the main concepts:

  • minimise the number of ingredients used in any product
  • select exclusively ingredients that are well known to be safe.

This approach ensures that Skintifique’s products are extremely safe to use. Of course, there is no such thing as perfect safety for everyone (some people are even allergic to water !), and it is a good practice to always test a product on a small area (eg on the forearm, or wrist), before using it broadly. It is also a good practice to check the composition of any product, especially if you know or suspect you are allergic or reactive. The composition of Skintifique products is always available on the products and on this website.


How does it work?

For every Skintifique product, scientists extensively review medical, scientific, and environmental publications, including those from the FDA, the EMEA and other American and European regulatory institutions, and even consumer reviews on the web, before any ingredient is included.

In addition, every “recipe” to make the product is optimised through a long process that involves both formulation expertise and trials and errors, so that the product, although minimalist, stays stable and efficient.

Then, of course, the safety of every product is systematically assessed through a number of tests (eg skin irritation tests, paediatric safety tests, ocular irritation tests, stability tests etc), usually by independent evaluators. It is only when our products have successfully passed these tests that they are offered to consumers.

As a result, our current products do not include ingredients such as paraben, silicone (dimethicone), mineral oil, fragrance, EDTA, phthalates, sulphates, lanolin…
