Psoriasis awareness week: fight the discrimination

The France Psoriasis association is organizing this week (from March 14 to 21, 2015) the 1st Psoriasis Awareness Week, with as main theme: fighting against discriminations. Indeed, according to a study made by Opinion Way, more than 60% of the patients suffering from Psoriasis have already been victims of discrimination.

3 million people suffer from Psoriasis in France, an illness that cannot be cured. In addition to the pain caused by the illness, these patients sometimes feel rejected because they are seen as contagious, psychologically fragile, or even as having a poor hygiene. Indeed, according to the study, 5% of the interrogated people believe that Psoriasis is contagious, and 4 out of 10 prefer to keep their distance with persons affected by Psoriasis.

This 1st Psoriasis Awareness Week’s goal is to fight against these preconceived ideas and to support those that are affected by Psoriasis, as well as their families. Many actions are organized this week: meetings, conferences, games for children. You can find all the details here (in French).
