NICKEL ALLERGY
Which everyday items may trigger a contact eczema?

> Eye glasses

When your skin break-outs and you get eczema type rashes when it gets in contact with specific objects, you likely have what is called a "contact allergic reaction".
Many everyday items indeed contain Nickel to which many people are allergic to. Skin contact with these items triggers an allergic reaction and rashes. These generally appear at the location of the skin contact, but may also appear in other places.
Everyday items that contain Nickel include jewellery, keys, coins, watches, computers, smartphones... And many items also include allergens that are similar to Nickel: Chromium and Cobalt. These items include leather items such as belts, sofas, shoes, and also construction materials.

So if your skin reacts to such items, you likely have a Nickel, Chromium or Cobalt allergy. Or a combination of these!
Now, to confirm your skin is allergic to Nickel, Chrome or Cobalt, or to any other common allergen for that matter, you can ask a dermatologist or an allergist to do a specific allergy diagnostic.
The most common ones are called "Patch Tests", or "Prick Tests", or "contact hypersensitivity tests".
In the Path tests, for instance, small quantities of potential allergens (including Nickel) are applied to the skin usually on the upper back. The patches stay on for 48 hours. After removing the patches, if the skin is inflamed, then you are confirmed allergic to Nickel
There is also a Home Test, DIY approach that works for most people to test for allergy to Nickel and related metal allergens. Of course, this is a quick, easy and cheap test and it cannot replace formal testing by a dermatologist or an allergist, especially if your allergy is severe.
In this approach, you need both:
The first step of this approach is to apply a bit of the Protective Cream on your skin before it comes in contact with the allergy-triggering item (if you are very sensitive, you may also apply a bit of the cream on the part of the item that will come in contact with your skin).
If the expected skin reaction is delayed compared to when it normally starts, or if there is simply no skin reaction (which generally happens for 3 out of 4 people), then it is most likely that your allergy is to Nickel, Chrome or Cobalt.
So you now know what type of items you should try to avoid contact with... and how to preserve your skin using the Protective Cream or another product from Skintifique that also includes the CapturifiqueTM technology!
If your skin reacts to the above items, and if you have been diagnosed to be allergic to Nickel (or Chromium, or Cobalt), you may use Skintifique's Protective Cream or, for a full routine, the Nickel Allergy Relief Pack. Thanks to the exclusive CapturifiqueTM technology, the Protective Cream and the Moisturizing Lotion can trap metal allergens at the surface of the skin and prevent them from entering into the skin; consequently, they prevent or limit the skin break-out and rashes, even when the skin has been in contact with items that contain the Nickel or other metal allergens.
