Seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis, or seborrheic eczema, is characterized by red patches and whitish scales. These are most often located on the face or on the scalp, and more specifically on areas rich in sebum. The skin can then itch strongly and scratching can cause lesions that aggravate the situation.

If its origin is multifactorial, sebum and Malassezia yeasts play a role in its development.

Good skin moisturising makes it possible to space out break-outs, and is therefore an excellent & easy way to prolong periods of remission.

Even when the skin seems to be healthy, between break-outs, it is critical to continue to nourish and moisturise it regularly.

This is especially true in winter when it's cold, since low temperatures weaken and dry out the skin. This is also true in summer when the sun puts a strain on one's skin.

1 To eliminate the excess sebum, always use an efficient yet gentle cleanser (ideally a micellar cleanser), so that the natural hydrolipidic film is preserved

2 Cleanse your face both in the morning and before bedtime. Excess sebum favors the growth of Malasssezia yeast, which is involved in seborrheic eczema break-outs
