Acne good habits to adopt

Acne

How to be free from your skin’s imperfections: adopting good habits

Today, acne is the main reason people go see a dermatologist. If most cases concern teenagers, more and more adults are suffering from these cutaneous imperfections. Causes are various, be they enviromental or genetic related. There are non the less good daily routines one can adopt to fight acne efficiently, so let’s go over them together.

The formation of acne

Sebum excess

Sebum, created by the sebaceous glands, can be responsible for acne when it is excessively present on the surface of the skin. This is called hyperseborrhea

UV exposition

Strong exposure to the sun without protection will trigger a reaction from the organism : the skin will thicken (called hyperkeratinization) increasing the risk of acne

Inflammation

Irritations or proliferation of bacteria (Propionis acnes) can also cause the appearance of acne

Good habits to adopt

Clean gently

Hydrate

What about pollution?

Cleaning without oppressing

When you have acne, it is fundamental to thoroughly clean your skin in the morning and evening.

Purifying to limit oilyness: First, it is the only way in a daily routine to limit the skin’s shine. It is also the occasion to remove excess sebum from the skin’s surface, as well as any impurities or bacteria responsible for the appearance of acne.

How to: It is essential to use gentle and non aggressive products: the power of the product is irrelevant, what matters is to be thorough in one’s routine. Also, if you can apply a product locally on acne, it is important to use a cleanser that does not dry the skin out: using such a product will undermine the skin’s natural abilities. To counteract the daily aggressions it suffers, it will produce more sebum to protect itself. And this is where a vicious circle begins.

Hydrating my skin

Should you hydrate your skin when you have acne? It’s counter-intuitive but yet fundamental to do so, but oily, mixed and imperfect skins need to stay hydrated as much as healthy skin!

Hydrating my skin to limit sebum production: A healthy skin is a well hydrated skin. By giving it what it needs, meaning water and lipids, it understands it should produce less sebum, this way minimising the risk of acne.

How to: After thoroughly cleaning your skin to remove excess sebum, impurities and bacteria, apply a non-comedogenic hydrating cream, that will let your skin breath without obstructing the pores.

what about pollution?

Air pollution has multiple consequences on your skin: the skin becomes brittle, therefore impacting sebum creation. This is why people living in cities are more and more concerned about acne.

Protecting your skin to limit sebum creation: By modifying the hydrolipidic film, pollution has the same impact as a lack of hydration: it increases the creation of sebum and therefore increases the risk of acne. Pollution will oxydize the squalen, lipid contained in the sebum, creating ground for inflammatory acne.

How to: First of all, it is important to thoroughly clean the skin to eliminate pollution (heavy metals & particles) that deposit themselves on the skin all day long and alter its function. You can also apply creams that have an action against pollution, like Skintifique’s Moisturizing Lotion HP.

A minimal number of ingredients respecting an inflexible blacklist

All our formulas are created to respect the most sensitive skins, while being as safe as possible. To manage this we have banned 7 types of ingredients from our products.

Perfums are used to make products more fun to use. Having no other purpose thanto be marketing tools, they increase the reactivity risk for sensitive skins & leave less room for other ingredients, that could potentialy have benificial effects on your skin.

Parabens are widespread preservatives in the cosmetic industry. Being endocrin disruptors, they are well-known for being hazardous to your health and for accelerating the skin’s deterioration when exposed to the sun.

Silicones are part of the occlusif ingredient family, meaning they create a film on the surface of the skin, keeping it from breathing. Being petrochemicals, they also play a great role in polluting our planet.

endocrin disruptors are substances that alter the endocrine system, that produces hormones essential to our metabolisme. The World Health Organisation (WHO)  has for many years issued warnings about such products, indicating that there is “an inceased risk to health issues”.

It is said incosmetologie that:that all alcohols are harmful to your skin. Since ethanol & isopropanol dry out the skin, destroy it’s protective film and increase the risks of cutaneous reactions, les alcools gras are harmless to our health. Therefore we have removed the dangerous ones from our products.

EDTA, or Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid, is used to stop bacterial prolifeation. It is in spite of that accused of being toxic, being a major cause of pollution &irritates the skin.

Essential oils are known to represent an important risk of cutaneous reactions for sensitive skins. They should also be avoided at all costs during pregnancys.

For Skintifique, it’s all about transparency. Clinically proven efficiency for the most sensitive skins, with products free of unwanted and harmful ingredients.

How do we do it? Innovation!

The safest micellar water

The Cleanser P has all the advantages of a micellar water : easy to use since a single cotton pad can spread it, and no need to rinse it off! Thanks to its light texture, it leaves your skin feeling as fresh as ever.

Its main strength is combining all these assets to more benefits that remain unknown about micellar waters: fragrance-, alcohol- or EDTA-free, usually included in this type of product, making them hazardous for the skin, the Cleanser P only has 5 ingredients, selected to be especially gentle. Also, it does not irritate your skin and therefore preserves the hydrolipidic film. Even better, it doesn’t dry your skin out!

Created to limit the risk of cutaneous reactions, the Cleanser P will take great care of your skin weakened by acne!
